Yellow Book Update
The Gas Yellow Book has been revised to reflect changes to policies and procedures, clarify existing language, incorporates accepted recommendations from field personnel, applicable external codes and update
specification references. The revision highlights for the latest revision effective November 8, 2021 in Version 16 of the Book are as follows: 1. Section 2 -Gas Services Section – The use of Galvanized sleeves for below grade installations is prohibited 2. Section 4- On Utility Jurisdiction work; Galvanized Fittings on existing installations are allowed to remain only if involved work does not impact their location. Galvanized fittings are not allowed on new
installations. This is for utility jurisdictional work only. 3. Gas Work Flow and DG related work- all load information is to be entered/input through project center. Load letters will no longer be accepted. 4. Applicable Drawings and Standards - Specifications and Drawings; 506175, 514203, EO-14158 (AKA G-413), EO-14166 (AKA G-414), EO-16511-B, EO-16585-A, EO16726-A. Specifications and Standards listed have been updated to include the installation
of a Firestop fitting on all Medium and High Pressure installation. This requirement is effective November 8, 2021 for all new installations going forward.

FireBag Fire Shut Off Valve
Con Edison will be requiring the installation of the TECO FireBag fire shut-off valve for all new MP/HP customer services effective 11/08/2021. The FireBag will be installed between the HOSV and residential/commercial regulators
(1”, 1-1/4”, 2”). If a building fire occurs at the HOS, the FireBag fire shut-off valve is designed to shut-off gas to building at ~212 degF preventing gas from feeding the building fire reducing the risks and hazards to emergency response personnel.
The FireBag was rigorously tested by the Con Edison R&D Department, Gas Engineering, Fire Alliance , and independently tested by GTI. Attached is copy of TECO FireBag manufacturer information and installation guidelines. This information
goes over design, installation, and operation of the FireBag.

Note: The firebag fitting will need to be procured by the licensed master plumber working on the job and is available at all plumbing supply houses. Only the firebag fitting listed is allowed to be used. No replacement or alternates are allowed.
The effective date of this requirement is on any job after November 8, 2021
